Let The Fun Begin! |
|
|
This is a driver’s event that is a fundraiser for
charity. This year it's dedicated to helping a very
worthwhile charity, The Canadian Diabetes
Association, a Canadian
charity dedicated to assisting people with diabetes.
The idea has grown out of the ‘America’s British
Reliability Run,’ based out of Michigan and is
modeled loosely on several events held yearly in
Britain with the same goal: to help a worthy charity
and have fun while doing so.
No, it's not a race; it's merely a test of the
drivability of our old British cars. A few club
members from Ontario have participated in the
Michigan event in recent years and now a couple of
them from the Waterloo Region, with the sponsorship
of the Optimist Club of Elmira, have decided it’s
time for a similar run in Canada.
This year's run, ‘The Lake Shore Run’, features a
roughly 600 mile route along the scenic shores of
Lake Erie and Lake Huron, hence the name “The
Lake Shore Run.”
The fun begins as the participants
gather in Cambridge on Friday evening, September 21
and get set to head out early Saturday morning,
September 22 on their adventure, finishing up back
in Cambridge on Sunday, September 23.
The event is open a maximum of just
50 vintage British cars. Get your car involved – act
today and visit the CBCCR website at
www.cbccr.org to register.
This year's goal is to raise $500.00
per car to help kids with diabetes. Teams will pay
their own expenses, so 100% of the donations go to
the charities. Interest is already running high for
this unique event. |
